THE BOMBER COMMAND MEMORIAL

The foundation stone for the memorial to WW2's Bomber Command was laid in Green Park, London on 4 May 2011.
Among those present at the ceremony was Bee Gee Robin Gibb, who spearheaded the three-year campaign to erect the memorial to Bomber Command, whose role was to attack Germany's air bases, troops, shipping and industrial complexes.
Also there was former Lancaster bomber pilot Sqn Ldr Tony Iveson, from Oxted, Surrey who campaigned in support of the memorial fund, which has raised £5.6m.
