On 15th September 1985 the 10 Squadron Memorial was officially inaugurated at the former Melbourne airfield in Yorkshire. We should not ignore the 40th anniversary of this event, which coincides with Battle of Britain day again. Back in 1985 it was our very own Dick King who was tasked with an overflight of the memorial at the correct moment in the proceedings. The plan was to carry out this flypast at 500 feet. The photo below obviously shows XV104 at exactly 500 feet above the Yorkshire ground.
